Turkish plane carrying minister in emergency landing after engine fails
A Turkish aircraft carrying Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli made an emergency landing on Friday after an engine failure, the NTV news channel said.
The plane, which was traveling from Turkey’s capital Ankara to Şırnak near the border with Iraq, was forced to land at an airport in Malatya, around 600 kilometres southeast of Ankara, NTV said. It was also carrying deputy minister Hadi Tunç and Rizgin Birlik, a parliamentarian for the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP).
The aircraft belongs to Turkey’s directorate of forestry, NTV said.
